ABOUT CHEROKEE SUGAR GLIDER RESCUE
Thank you for checking out Cherokee Sugar Glider Rescue. 
We are a nonprofit rescue organization specializing in rescuing and re-homing Sugar Gliders. Cherokee Sugar Glider Rescue is located in Parma, Ohio (near Cleveland, in Northern Ohio.)
Please inquire for the availability of Sugar Gliders at this time. It is important that you read over this website before you contact us!
We will not adopt out Sugar Gliders outside of the State of Ohio. We will not ship Sugar Gliders. We will need to meet you via email if you are interested in adopting a Sugar Glider from us. We adopt out to adults only, at least 21 of age. Our Gliders are not available for breeding purposes.
VISITING OUR SUGAR GLIDERS
There is no 'visiting' allowed until your application has been approved by our Board of Directors. Gliders are adopted out from our home.
CHEROKEE SUGAR GLIDER'S MISSION STATEMENT
Cherokee Sugar Gliders is dedicated to protecting the welfare of unwanted Sugar Gliders, and assisting Sugar Glider owners with advice in providing proper care for these animals. We will provide screened adoption services in order to re-home any Sugar Glider donated to our organization.
Cherokee Sugar Glider’s goal is to be a model Sugar Glider rescue organization reflecting the values of the rescue community by educating the public on how to care for Sugar Gliders as pets. We are against abuse, cruelty and actual or unaware neglect of the Sugar Glider species.
OUR ADOPTION PROCESS
Everyone must go thru our adoption interview process in advance of the decision being made to adopt a Sugar Glider to you. Our adoption policies apply equally to everyone who contacts us.
(1) There is an email interview and then a small application fee for us to mail the application to you. We get a great number of inquiries on our Sugar Gliders so we mail out applications to serious potential adopters only.
(2) You will be "applying" to adopt a Sugar Glider. Not everyone who applies may be approved to obtain a Glider from our Organization. We may ask for references from you.
(3) Our policies are in effect to protect the well being of all homeless Sugar Gliders released into our care.
(4) Our Sugar Gliders need good homes, but they are not free. A donation is necessary for each Sugar Glider we adopt out to reimburse Cherokee Sugar Glider Rescue for obtaining, caring for, and purchasing food and the proper cage for your Sugar Glider prior to placement.
If you are unhappy with Cherokee Sugar Glider's policies so far, please contact another rescue organization.
DO YOU NEED TO FIND A GOOD HOME FOR YOUR SUGAR GLIDER?
We will accept Sugar Gliders into our organization from anyone who is unable to care for them any more, for any reason.
Cherokee Sugar Glider Rescue will accept Gliders in need of a home and then adopt them out to the person who is most familiar with these little creatures. Cherokee Sugar Glider Rescue does not re-home Sugar Gliders to children.
Cherokee Sugar Gliders will provide adoption to carefully screened and caring adult pet owners who fit our qualifications to adopt this animal per our organization's adoption policies.
If you are considering donating your pet Sugar Glider to our rescue organization, feel free to email or call us with any questions you may have. (Since we are an unfunded animal rescue organization, Cherokee Sugar Glider Rescue is unable to purchase your Glider. We suggest that you place an ad in a newspaper if you have contacted us to purchase your Glider.)
Cherokee Sugar Gliders has a very detailed screening process before granting adoptions to the public.
Your decision to turn your Glider over to Cherokee Sugar Glider Rescue must be final as we cannot return Sugar Gliders to you after we start the process of finding homes for them. (We do not board Sugar Gliders or any other pet, but we reserve the right to charge a boarding fee if the previous owner wants their Glider returned.)
ARE YOU INTERESTED IN ADOPTING A SUGAR GLIDER?
We do not adopt out Sugar Gliders for breeding purposes or match up a male for your female.
Our Gliders are spayed/neutered first. Expect an adoption contract, of which the details are explained to you during your interview. This is an adult's pet.
Please email your inquiries rather than phoning us. Serious adopters must contact Amy at email: mecherokee2@danworld.com to start your email interview. This is the start of our adoption process. Please research the Sugar Glider species before you contact our organization.
One must be familiar with Sugar Gliders as a pet. One must meet Cherokee Sugar Glider's adoption qualifications to be able to adopt from us. Applying to our organization does not mean automatic adoption approval. We do hope you qualify to adopt a Sugar Glider from our organization! We look forward to meeting you via email! 
WHAT IS A SUGAR GLIDER?
A Sugar Glider is not a rodent. It is a marsupial and is totally different from a hamster or a gerbil.

Please do not consider obtaining a Sugar Glider from any source before you research this species first.

If you would like to donate any unneeded, tall, cages suitable for housing Sugar Gliders, we would be glad to have them also. Thank you !
YOUR PRIVACY
Your private info is never sold or given away to any person or outside organization. The info you supply us is for our files only. Cherokee Sugar Glider Rescue only uses this info to help us in placing the Gliders in our care.
Since we do not pass out anyone's personal information, the previous owner cannot contact the new owner after a Glider has been adopted out. However, Amy would be glad to give you at least one update if you email her at a later date.
